AIR QUALITY

AIR QUALITY IN & AROUND OUR TOWN

Being the most valuable chain of our developing society, the onus to improve the lives of ours, our kids and the habitant of our part of the world lies solely on us. We today cannot blame the millions of our brothers who are deprived of education and better life as they are still struggling to meet their both end but we can help by doing our part of job being the part of improving our environment by emitting less Green House Gases.
Delhi's AIR QUALITY has been worsened and its value as measured is ranging between PM 225 to 260 highest (100 times more than normal) of any city in the world.
PM 2.5 LEVEL (Particulate matter is measured the pollutants particles in micron dia.)
0-50 is VERY GOOD, 51-100-GOOD,101-200-Still healthy,201-250-UNHEALTHY,
251-300 is DANGER
This type of air pollution can also cause or worsen serious illnesses such as asthma, heart disease, chronic bronchitis, emphysema and pneumonia.
Exposure to PM2.5 is associated with a significant rise in the number of premature deaths from respiratory and heart disease.
PM2.5 and asthma are a bad mix. PM2.5 can increase the number of asthma attacks, and make them more severe. Patients who are suffering from asthma lie in danger zone with increased PM level.
The only way to save our lives and improve the way of leaving to ourselves and our new generation by taking the following corrective measures:-
(a)IN OUR BACKYARDS
Plant more trees, and shrubs which absorb and filters air pollutants,
Stop and strictly prohibit the nature and habit of backyard burning instead adopt recycling & composting,
(b) IN YOUR HOME
Wood heaters and fireplaces are a major source of air pollution. They generate a lot of greenhouse gas through methane production and, when they are burning incorrectly, produce smoke, soot, odours and a range of toxic compounds.
Gas heating and reverse-cycle air-conditioners are a better heating alternative because they don't produce smoke and they emit less greenhouse gases per unit of heat.
(c) GETTING AROUND
Keep your car well-serviced and tyres properly inflated
This reduces exhaust emissions, increases fuel efficiency and saves you money.
Only fill the petrol tank to the first click
This avoids spillage and reduces the release of petrol fumes into the air.
Switch to unleaded petrol
This reduces atmospheric lead levels. Unleaded petrol can be used in some pre-1986 vehicles. Check with the manufacturer.
Drive smoothly
Avoiding excessive acceleration and braking reduces exhaust emissions and helps save money on petrol.
Cold engines produce much more emissions than if the car is already warm, so combining all of your errands into a longer journey reduces the level of emissions produced.
Carpool with friends or co-workers
This reduces the number of vehicles on the road and emissions. It also helps save money by sharing petrol and toll expenses.
Walk or cycle
This is a cheap, healthy alternative for short trips.
Catch public transport
By catching the bus, train or ferry once a week you can reduce your contribution to weekday air pollution by up to 20 per cent.

AVAILABILITY OF NONAVAILABILITY

Availability of Nonavailability

Perhaps air India is the only Airlines in the world where Availability of "NONAVAILABILITY"is more.

Delay of 10 hrs of AI 302 to Sydney where we boast volumes and being the official career of Cricket World Cup,AI could not carry Indian cricket fans to Sydney & they could not witness the historic win of India over Pakistan where India beat Pakistan by 76 runs. This time The Simple reason of delay was NON AVAILABILITY OF C/CREW.

On several occasins A/C delay also due  NON AVAILABILTY OF Cockpit Crew.

Our OTP down to only 58.8% lowest among the Indian career but AI is going to punish/cut the salary of employees for their own mismanagement of their highly qualified managers. As of date comparatively we are No.3 in passenger carrying after Jet Airways but one can see the pax que in morning hrs by 3 to 6 AM where pax bee line even up to entry/exit gate and finally it looks like a Indian Railway ticket counter where even for a confirm passengers; getting a B/Pass is an uphill task, when he gets his Boarding pass it is like winning a battle. The only reason of this huge mess is that NONAVAILABILITY OF STAFF at counters. In morning only 6 out of 12 counters are operational. This gives a very bad experience to our pax & affect OTP but it is whose failure? Is that employee who was artificially unavailable to the counter,a real shortage or a total mismanagement.

Aircraft is delayed of NON AVAILABILITY OF WHEELS though large number of wheels are either in transit or W/O are not made in time due various reasons are a beautiful example of mismanagement. How to blame and made accountable to the management is a million dollar question though the company is loosing million of dollar every day.

NONAVAILABILITY OF SPARES is another reason where our aircrafts are grounded everyday at one or another airport out of base but hardly any specific plan is being worked out to identify spares, their procurement and positioning to the local stores.

The dirtiest & snag wrapped cabin of our aircraft are supervised by top level management in the organization which is simply due "NONAVAILABILITY" of Cabin technician. Most often 18 aircrafts in Night are being maintained by ONE TECH with no Foreman.

Above are few but before we go further it can be only said that Airline is slowly and slowly being cast under the shadow of NONAVAILABILITY SYNDROME and being contagious where each and every functional departments are under influence of this except its BABUs who are hardly available but they are overworked by NONWORKING.

Unless serious diagnosis of this syndrome is done before it become chronic it's(Airline's) affairs are in real mess and will worsen faster.
