Inspection after Bird strike
05-51-14-200-803-A

BIRD HIT Is totally unpredictable, required unscheduled maintenance and incur huge loss to company and the industry.

As many as 8 such Bird hits were reported as of date causing cancellation, disruptions and  movement of men and materials to domestic as well as international stations.é

L/M engineers who are under extreme pressure other than main maintenance base during this period; his  own decisions matter and he can save million of rupees if the decision of Groundings and/or not Groundings are taken quickly.Delayed decision results in Crew DTL, inconvenience to our passengers.Hereunder there are few guidelines which can be referred for quick decisions though always follow applicable AMM/TSM.

Inspections are decided into three steps:-

(1)-Walk around inspection.Must follow the specific path as per the AMM.This is to find signs of Bird strike and/or damage.(refer inspection task as above).

(2)-Cleaning of the Bird sign and

(3)-Inspection areas with detected impacts.

Also must get the information from the crew about the flight conditions like engine behaviour,Smell in Air conditioning outlets, Navigation and radio system behaviour,A/C configuration and Flight Phase at the time when the impact occurred.
Check the related PFR,
If the pilot reports of Engine Stall,Engine parameter change/exceeded or smells in air-conditioned outlet then do the related steps 4.W of the inspection as per AMM
If you do not find the signs of Bird strike or damage during the first step, the aircraft can back into operation.
Inspection of the engine after a Bird strike or slush ingestion
05-51-19-200-001-A

C/O this inspection in conjunction with Inspection 72-00-00-200-006-A
If during walk around inspection no damage OBSD as per AMM and engine parameters normal;

The BSI may be delayed for 25 FH or 10 Flight cycles.

Any abnormalities OBSD;refer AMM limits, repair as per AMM &
,do the BSI before next flight.

REPLACEMENT OF FUEL NOZZLES AFFECTED BY COKING(SB LEAP 1A 73-00-0040-01A-930AD)

Note:-Just for information to Line Engineers.Refer applicable AMM

Objective of this SB is to minimise IFSD,TOA,ATB OR DIVERSIONS due  coking in the Pilot Secondary circuit and the valves of the affected fuel nozzles.

Coking increases with accumulated cycles/hours that result in HOT STREAKS and related engine events as above.

The SB was issued on 07/11/2019 and to be complied on LEAP 1A engines within 60 days of issuance of this SB.

CFM recommends to do the SB every 2000 cycles since the last Fuel Nozzles Replacement or 2000 CSN for new EIS(Entry into service)  LEAP 1A engines.

This SB will need approximately 60 man-hours to do the necessary removal and installation of affected fuel nozzles of the engine.

Fuel Nozzles (SIN) P/N 6120066E02
Or
6120066E03

Remove the 19 Fuel Nozzles as per AMM TASK 73-11--30-000-802-A
AND Installation as per AMM 72-11-30-400-802-A

Send the removed nozzles to "Advance atomization techniqe"or follow the company policy.

AIR BLEED IN MAINTENANCE

AIR BLEED in Maintenance without ECAM status CFDS fault msg.
TSM 36-00-00-810-802-A

Air Bleed in maintenance is a common msg of our cockpit and very irritating to LM Engineers; especially when some fussy pilot force to remove the warning or asking to make us DMR entry just prior to departure.

One can easily find 6 to 8 snags as above C/F under MEL everyday.

Here is few tips/Guidelines from AMM which can be followed to cancel the msg and minimise the snags on fleet:-

Open CB 2ww and 3ww(FWC1&2) for 5 to 10 sec to cancel the Air bleed maintenance msg then close the CBs.

It is to be noted that 2 minutes are necessary for full initialisation of FWC.Further to this,BMC reset will not cancel the Air bleed msg on ECAM status page.

(A)AIR BLEED STATUS MSG come into view after power transfer
it will go after the first subsequent Engine Start. This will not come after engine shut down.

(B)AIR BLEED STATUS MSG AFTER ENGINE S/D
The msg is applicable as it appears after Engine shut Down in the PFR and an ECAM warning with related CFDS message.

To erase the Air Bleed msg,the only condition is to start the FWC flight phase 1,After Engine S/D the a/c will be in Flight Phase 10.300 seconds later the start of flight phase 1 should reset the Air Bleed msg.

If the fault continue,
Go to MCDU SYSTEM REPORT/PNEU MENU PAGE and push the Line Key adjacent to the BMC1(2).

If BMC 1(2) page does not comes into view,c/o TSM Task.

If BMC 1(2) page  comes into view then the the Air Bleed maintenance msg on status page is an unwanted msg and can be ignored.

Open the AIR BLEED ENG1 and ENG 2 monitoring CBs 2HA1,3HA1 Or 2HA2 &3HA2 during 5 to 10 sec and then CLOSE them.

Note:-Always follow the relevant AMM&TSM.

HARD/OVERWEIGHT LANDING

Hard/Overweight Landing

Approximately 4 landings per month are reported as Hard/Overweight landings.

This takes an average of 1:45 hrs(based on turn around time at outstation after H/O Landings) to c/o Hard landing inspection and/or to get the VRTA data from DFDR or DMU for VRTA value to decide as per TSM and  it's related Flow Chart.

Such landings have a cascading effect on consequencial flights and inconvenience to the passengers enroute. We must further investigate the cause of hard landings and means to minimise it.

FDIMU are now modified and it generates 7000 code for Load report 15 on every landing and stored. This 7000 code is replaced by 4xxx code as soon as any excedence occurs.
Read the VRTA values, refer flow chart above and decide what inspn to be carried out.

Further must refer valid TSM AND AMM TASK AS mentioned below:-
