ENGINE VIBRATIONS

FAN AND CORE VIBRATION

FAN VIBRATIONS(4.2 to 8 units)
A.Less than 4 units with Noise or Rumble,
Task Task 77-00-00-810-862-A

B.Greater than or equal to 4 units or Less than 6 units
TSM77-00-00-810-863-A

C.greater than or equal to 6 units TSM 77-00-00-864-A

D.For greater than  8 UNITS.Check LPTACC MANIFOLD and if snag still persists replace

LPTACC Manifold within 5 cycles.

CORE VIBRATIONS
(A.)For greater than or equal to 4.2 units or Less than 5.4 units.
TSM 77-00-00-810-865-A
(B.)For greater than 5.5 units
TSM 77-00-00-810-866-A
(1)The above VIBRATIONS are reported in conjunction with Airframe vibration reported by crew,Or
(2)Only on LECAM without Airframe Vibration momentarily for less than 1 minute Or,
(3)On LECAM without Airframe Vibration but repititive in nature.
If it is reported as in para 2,No maintenance action is required for the revenue flight to be in continuation but maintenance action is planned as per next available opportunities.
Rest in other two occasions, inspection as per relevant TSM Task is done.

Fan Vibration above 8 units,LPTACC Manifold to be checked or replaced as per TSM requirements.
CORE VIBRATIONS (4.2 TO 5.4 )units.
Similar to the case of Fan VIBRATIONS,if it is reported momentarily without crew notices of Airframe Vibration,
NO MAINTENANCE ACTION is required.
If the VIBRATIONS level is associated with HIGH SPEED(Max Cont.,Climb and Takeoff), Suspected HPT Failure, Maintenance action as per TSM is planned within 25 cycles.
But if the core VIBRATIONS associated with LOW SPEED,this is due suspected HPC failure and in this case CFM to be contacted for defining it's cycle of maintenance.
Maintenance action to be done as per applicable TSM Task.

Maintenance action is done as per applicable TSM;refer as above.

For Fan VIBRATIONS above 6units,refer flow chart for action to be performed for rectification.
Mechanical Advisory report 7 Code 4310 or Code 4320 will trigger.
NOTE:-THIS IS JUST FOR INFORMATION, ALWAYS REFER APPLICABLE TSM OR AMM

HARD/OVERWEIGHT LANDING

Hard/Overweight Landing

Approximately 4 landings per month are reported as Hard/Overweight landings.

This takes an average of 1:45 hrs(based on turn around time at outstation after H/O Landings) to c/o Hard landing inspection and/or to get the VRTA data from DFDR or DMU for VRTA value to decide as per TSM and  it's related Flow Chart.

Such landings have a cascading effect on consequencial flights and inconvenience to the passengers enroute. We must further investigate the cause of hard landings and means to minimise it.

FDIMU are now modified and it generates 7000 code for Load report 15 on every landing and stored. This 7000 code is replaced by 4xxx code as soon as any excedence occurs.
Read the VRTA values, refer flow chart above and decide what inspn to be carried out.

Further must refer valid TSM AND AMM TASK AS mentioned below:-

October at a Glance

OCTOBER AT A GLANCE

Disclaimer:~

This is just a guidelines and information about rectification for line engineers. This is not to be quoated and followed while rectifying a snag.Always refer
applicable manuals while working on aircraft and it's systems.

FUEL FILTER CLOG Warning-
This was reported at 09 occasions on our A320 fleet which was involved in Delay and even in groundings.

Five cases on A320 fleet,02 cases on A319 and and 02 cases on A321.
In all this cases, snag was rectified by replacing the fuel filter.

We would have been avoided few delays by placing Fuel filters on station like SHJ/ DXB/MCT though it is always better to comply the job of fuel sampling etc meticulously on our fleet as per approved schedule and TCs.

If not; earlier procedure of placing Filter in Hatrack may consider to be adopted.

BIRD HIT:-

Seven cases of Bird hit were reported on our fleet by the end of the last day of October 2019 whereby many flights were affected apart from expenditure incurred in transporting Men,materials and spares for retrieving the aircraft.
Details of affected aircraft are as under:-
CIE/EXR/CIF/EXO/EXK/PPJ/PPV at CCU/MAA/BLR/MAA/PNQ/VTZ/AMD respectively.
EXO was retrieved after replacing Nose Cowl
Airlines looses million of rupees on this account which was otherwise responsibilities lie to the
airport authority.Matter must be taken up with concerned officials.

Snags which appeared in our fleet this month which were repititive in nature or are one of its kind are as under for references:-

EXV was involved in an incident when it was diverted to MCT on dated 12/10 after ENG. 1 IDG LO OIL PR warning followed by Z"oil qty on engine page".On detailed investigation ENG 1 IDG ROTATING SEAL ON AGB found damaged which was replaced and aircraft retrieved from MCT.

PPK on passing flight level 220 had a Overspeed warning with SLAT slightly in extended position on 12/10 at HYD.FWC 1 and FWC2 both were replaced during the rectification.

CIG grounded at MCT on 16/10 due ENG1 not starting.
FMU and EEC A replaced at MCT to rectify the sang.

SCL was held up at IXJ on 17/10 due Air ENG1 BLEED LEAK and unable to start the engines.Finallay aircraft was retrieved by deactivating Pylon sensor as per MEL and sensor was replaced at DEL.

SCM was ready for Take off at BoM on 17/10 when Engine 2 got auto shut down.Aircraft was withdrawn for further investigation and Engine was replaced to service SCM.The subject engine under investigation, awaiting for its finding.

SCS at DEL on dated 31/10 withdrawn due Engine 2 Stall.

CIG at DEL on dated 31/10 withdrawn initially after reporting the snag of Auto thrust Off.During the process of rectification as per TSM snag was persisted until connector of Junction Box 407vc and 415vc were cleaned and refitted.

Ground Incidents:-
A ground Incidents of pax steps hitting the VT-SCA While getting ready for the flight damaging the Air Intake Door of APU.This was replaced at CCU and aircraft was put in service.

Each ground personnel need to be trained and sensitised about the safety while working on the aircraft or in its vicinity.Such GIs are avoidable which cost huge money to the Airlines and inconvenience to the pax.
